Grandstream Device Management System (GDMS) & Remote Provisioning Service (RPS)

Scope
Intended Audience: All Users, Tier 1 Technicians
The Redirection and Provisioning Service (RPS) is a complimentary service available to all Grandstream customers globally. By inputting the MAC address of an IP phone and the URL of the provisioning server into Grandstream’s RPS server, the phone can be automatically redirected to its designated server for configuration updates upon initial startup. This article will show you how to use GDMS to add individual, batches, and users along with running diagnostics for specific devices.
Requirements
- Admin Access to GDMS RPS
- Admin Access to GDMS
- Global One-Time Username and Password provided by support
Add Device to Grandstream RPS or GDMS

Head over to GDMS and login.

Once logged in, ensure you are on the default/correct organization and then select VoIP Device from the list from the left.

Select + Add Device from the top right.

Enter the MAC Address for the device.

Enter the following required information into the following fields.
- S/N (This required, this step cannot be skipped)

Site (This can be left as default if you do not have specific sites setup
- Once filled in, select Save.

Once the phone has been added, please attempt a factory reset. The phone should sync configuration. Verify the phone being online by checking the phone itself and verifying through the manager portal to confirm.
- Note: If the phone is not online, do not attempt the next step. Please also do not select the option to SYNC configuration when the phone comes online when adding the phone. It will sync any information previously on the phone if it was not factory reset ahead of time.

Ensure the phone is showing online in the portal. If online Continue with the next following steps.
- Select the phone or phones just added.

Select Sync Device Local Configuration.
- You can now verify that your phone is online by it showing an active extension showing GREEN. If the account/extension is showing red that means that the account is a foreign account from the phone when adding the phone or the account was added to the phone via GDMS.
Batch Import Devices into Grandstream RPS & GDMS

From within GDMS, Select VoIP Device.

Select Import Device from the top right

Fill in the required information for each device.
- MAC Address
- Serial Number
- Device Name (OPTIONAL)

Site Name - Leave Blank for Default

Save and upload your edited template.
- Select OK

You will then be informed if any of the devices failed and how many were successful.
Add Custom Server Profile to Grandstream RPS & Global Username and Password Setup

Once logged into GDMS, ensure you are on your correct organization and then select System and then RPS Management.

Select + Add RPS from the top right.

You will then be prompted to enter the following information.
- Server Name
- Config Upgrade Via (HTTP or HTTPS)
- Config Server Path (Server URL)
- Config Server Username - GLOBAL USERNAME

Config Server Password - GLOBAL PASSWORD
- Look over the information, if the information is correct. Select Save and the RPS profile will be added. to the Organization.
Create Admin GDMS User

Ensure you are in the correct organization, then select System and then Users.

You can then select + Add User from the top right.

Please fill in the information below.
- Nickname - This is not needed but is used to describe who the user is.
- Email - Insert the email you want for the invite link for the account or password resets.
- Role - Select Admin
- Select to enable Multi-Factor Authentication as required by company policy.

Select Managed Organizations you want the user to have access too.
- Select Save one complete. A welcome email will be dispatched to the email provided.
Running Diagnostics In GDMS

Select Diagnostics from the Left Side

Enter the MAC address of the device you want to run Diagnostics on.

You will see various options that can be used for diagnostic tools.

You will also be provided with the specific device information related to the device. There are also options here to Reboot the device, Firmware Upgrade, Set Parameters, and Factory Reset.
