  • Access to Datagate
  • Access to ConnectBooster

ConnectBooster Overview

Invoices created in Datagate can be viewed in the ConnectBooster portal. When an invoice is displayed from the ConnectBooster portal, or the PDF needs to be emailed to the customer, Connectbooster looks to other systems to locate the invoice PDF. This document explains how to set up ConnectBooster to look in Datagate for the invoice PDF first. If it doesn’t find it, it continues to look at other systems to see if it can find that PDF. – for example ConnectWise, QuickBooks.

Setting Up ConnectBooster Integration

  1. Contact ConnectBooster – support@connectBooster.com - and request that they enable the Custom Integration option
  2. Contact OIT (support@oit.co) and request an API key After the above two items have been actioned, log into ConnectBooster with an administrator account. Navigate to Settings > Integrations > Custom (note the Custom option will have been enabled by ConnectBooster in Step 1 above.
  3. Enter the Integration name: Datagate Invoices
  4. Choose GetInvoiceImage (click on the down arrow to enable the configuration).
  5. Change method to GET and copy in the following text: https://api.dataportal.nz/v1/connectbooster/getinvoiceimage/{{InvoiceNumber}}
  6. Create three header keys as below. Copy the values from this text:
    1. Cache-control: no-cache
    2. X-Api-Key: supplied by OIT in step two at the start of this document
    3. X-Client-Id: dcd04876-c33d-41dc-bf4d-df8861db6147
  7. Click SAVE.
  8. From the ConnectBooster menu navigate to Settings > Configurations > Billing
  9. Scroll down to Invoice Image Data
  10. Enable Custom (Datagate Invoices) by checking the box
  11. Click and drag Custom (Datagate Invoices) to the top so it looks similar to the screenshot below

Testing

  1. Generate an invoice in Datagate
  2. Export it – use your usual procedures so that the invoice data is showing in your accounting system (usually Quickbooks or Connectwise)
    1. Note Zed Axis or something similar is required to import the Quickbooks desktop Invoice Export csv file from Datagate to Quickbooks Desktop as it has no integration and Connectbooter requires the invoice to be in the Accounting system to be able to access it.
  3. Ensure ConnectBooster sync has run You can test by viewing an invoice that is in QuickBooks and in Datagate. Here is the invoice in QuickBooks:
  4. Back in ConnectBooster: From the main menu, navigate to Customers.

  5. Choose a customer by clicking on the company name.
  6. Open invoices and find an invoice number that is also in Datagate. Choose More.
  7. Choose View
  8. Expect to see the Datagate PDF open in a new tab. If not, check to see if you have pop-ups blocked on your browser
  9. Test also with an invoice that is not in Datagate. You should see the usual ConnectWise, QuickBooks etc.

Note: Resellers need to use Zed Axis or similar software if they are using Quickbooks Desktop in order to import the Invoice from Datagate to Quickbooks Desktop, there is no integration to QBD hence why this is needed. The Quickbooks Desktop Invoice Export csv report would also need to be loaded into the Reseller portal by a Datagate Consultant if QBD is being used.
