Instructions on how to provision a Mitel 68xx and Astra device using with the Global One Time username and password.
Requirements
- Access to the device
- Global One Time Username and Password
- Knowledge of setting up DHCP Option 66
General
The Mitel 68xx phones and Astra phones currently do not have a way to add the Global One Time username and password into the webgui for first time provisioning.
Below are some steps on how to perform a first time provision with these devices.
IP Whitelist
The clients WAN IP can be whitelisted to bypass the requirement to use the Global One Time username and password.
In order to do this, please ticket support requesting the WAN IP to be whitelisted in NDP. You will need to provide the IP address.
Once all provisioning is completed, the IP will be removed from the whitelist, as the per device username and password setup will take over to authenticate future updates.
DHCP Option 66
Another option is to utilize DHCP Option 66. This will require you to create an appropriate configuration file, and ensure it is able to be accessed by the phones. This can be a web server or a local share on the client's network.
The cfg file should be in XML format named as either 000000000000.cfg or <MAC-address>.cfg so the phone can apply the correct settings.
a sample file should include the following parameters:
auto resync mode: 3 http digest force login: 1 http digest username: <Global One Time Username> http digest password: <Global One Time Password> https server: https://ndp.ucaasnetwork.com https path: cfg/ https port: 443
Replace <Global One Time Username> and <Global One Time Password> with the username and password provided by support.
Setup of the DHCP Option 66 location is router/firewall specific and please refer to the manufactures documentation for instruction on how to set this.
Phone Screen
If not using the above 2 options, when you set the https server to point to ndp.ucaasnetwork.com, there will be a new button on the screen of the phone, after the device has been rebooted.
Once the Log In button has been pressed, it will prompt for the username and password. This will be the Global One Time username and password provided by support.
